Lockdown Grant Awarded to CMP
Some good news in these difficult times - Chester Mystery Plays has been granted a £4000 COVID-19 Additional Restrictions Grant.
The CMP board applied for the grant, designed to provide local councils with funding to support businesses that are severely impacted by lockdown restrictions, in light of the impact of COVID-19 on CMP and its activities, and in particular the crucial fund-raising events that would normally take place. Finance Director Gavin Eyres, who made the application, is delighted:
“This grant is a very welcome injection of funds. The various money-raising social occasions, as well as the donations achieved through general awareness-raising, have simply not been possible over the last year, and underpinning the company in this way is vital as we progress towards the next cycle in 2023.
Chairman Ian Sanderson is equally pleased: "Making these funds available to organisations like ours is clearly important, and we are grateful to Cheshire West and Chester Council for their swift decision, which will make a real difference to what we are able to do.”
The Chester Mystery Plays are all about the people which support and take part not only in the plays themselves but the community activities which surround them. We look forward to seeing everyone once more as we tentatively move towards normality.
